Calculators for dBs

Whenever dealing with dBs it can be very handy to be able to quickly convert between all sorts of dB units. Since there is a multitude of different dB units out there it can get pretty confusing pretty fast. Hence these calculators are indented to make it easier to convert between some of the most important dB units.

Power Ratio in dBm

dBm: A unit that defines a signal level by comparing it to a reference level. The reference level of 0 dBm is defined as 1 mW.

dBW: A unit for the measurement of the strength of a signal expressed in decibels relative to one watt.

dBm (≥ -30 and ≤ 90)
dBW (≥ -60 and ≤ 60)
mW (> 0 and ≤ 1MW)
W (> 0 and ≤ 1MW)

Amplitude Levels Ratio

dBV: A unit that defines a signal level by comparing it to a reference level. The reference level of 0 dBV is defined as 1 Vrms.

dBμV (≥ 0 and ≤ 200)
dBmV (≥ -60 and ≤ 140)
dBV (≥ -120 and ≤ 80)

mVrms (> 0 and ≤ 10kV)
Vrms (> 0 and ≤ 10kV)

Conversions between dBm and dBV

dBm (≥ -30 and ≤ 90)
dBW (≥ -60 and ≤ 60)
dBμV / dBmV / dBV
dBμV (≥ 60 and ≤ 207.782)
dBmV (≥ 0 and ≤ 147.782)
dBV (≥ -60 and ≤ 87.782)

Decibel to Power and Amplitude Ratio Converter

dB: A relative unit of measurement equal to one tenth of a bel (B). It expresses the ratio of two values of a power or root-power quantity on a logarithmic scale. Two signals whose levels differ by one decibel have a power ratio of 10110 (approximately 1.259) or root-power ratio of 10120 (approximately 1.122).
The unit expresses a relative change or an absolute value. In the latter case, the numeric value expresses the ratio of a value to a fixed reference value; when used in this way, the unit symbol is often suffixed with letter codes that indicate the reference value. For example, for the reference value of 1 volt, a common suffix is "V" (e.g., "20 dBV").
